Hey Mama,
You are doing more than you know. This guide was created to help you and your baby connect through gentle, intentional touch. Massage can support digestion, ease colic, promote sleep, and strengthen the bond between you two. These are simple, loving strokes meant to be used intuitively, not perfectly. Take a deep breath. You’ve got this!
Tips to begin:
Choose a quiet, warm space.
Massage after a bath or before bed (not right after a feeding)
Use gentle oil like coconut or grapeseed.
Watch bab'y’s cues, stop if they seem overstimulated or fussy.
Speak softly or hum as you massage. Let it be a moment of connection, not performance.
Open Heart (for the nervous system)
Place both hands in the center of your baby’s chest.
Slowly glide each hand out across chest like you’re smoothing love in their skin.
Pause at the shoulders and hold gently for a few seconds. Tip: This stroke helps release held tension and invites calm.
Belly Circles (for gas & tummy)
Gently place both hands on baby’s belly
Use the pads of your fingers to trace small clockwise circles. Going in this direction follows the flow of digestion.
Go slow and not hard. In the picture shown my son is older and has had this done several times.
Foot Tracing (regulates & grounds)
Hold one foot and gently trace a line with your thumb from the heel to each toe.
Repeat 3x per foot or you can do more or less depending on your baby!
Speak an affirmation or simply smile. Tip: Feet are grounding points. This stroke helps your baby feel safe and rooted. It is also meditative for you!
